What is a black hole and what happens when you go into one?

A black hole is a place in space where gravity is so strong everything can be sucked in, including light. Black holes can be any size and are not visible to the unaided human eye. Stellar black holes are created when a huge star collapses. This happens whena star runs out of fuel and collapses. Supermassive black holes are found at the centre of each galaxy and are created as part of the galaxy formation process.

There are no black holes in or near our solar system. This means that it is difficult to explore them. Anything that goes into a black hole can not come out, for this reason no photographs have been taken or recovered of the inside of a black hole.  Therefore there is no experimental evidence about what lies at the centre of a black hole.

Other information suggests that you can not get out. As you come to the hole, or the event horizon, the force of gravity will become so strong that you will be crushed.

What is a white hole?
There is a theory of white holes however it has not yet been proven. A white hole  is the opposite to a black hole. Nothing can fall into a white hole and just like a black hole pulls things in, a white hole throws things out.

What is a worm hole?

There is a theory of worm holes. This is that two black holes could be connected. Therefore according to the theory if you got sucked into one you may come out a another or you may come out into a white hole. However the question is then how you would survive.
