Why does the moon shine?
 Sunlight reflects off the moon’s surface and this is how the moon appears to be “shining”. 

What is a shooting star?
A shooting star is not actually a star, but a piece of burning meteor that is passing through the earth’s atmosphere. Most meteors burn up before they reach the ground.

Can you smoke in space?
Yes, theoretically it is possible to smoke in space. However not out doors. To light a fire you need oxygen for combustion. If there is no oxygen then it won’t catch on fire and burn. Therefore you can not smoke in space unless you have a supply of oxygen.

What animals have been into space?
Many animals have been sent into space such as dogs, monkeys, mice, squirrels, frogs, cats, spiders, rats, newts, fruit flies, fish, insects, tree frogs and chimpanzees.

Who was the first person to travel into space?
The first person to travel into space was a russian called Yuri Gagarin. He traveled into space on April 12th 1961.  He was up in space for 108 minutes. However the first person to set foot on a land mass other than earth was Neil Armstrong. He landed on the moon on July 20 1969. They stayed on the moon for 2 and 1/2 hours, conducting experiments.
